Built in 1525 by the Raguier brothers, Superintendents of Finance under Francis I, the chateau underwent major changes and demolition over the years. All that remains today is the inner wing, flanked by two turrets. Napoleon camped here in 1814 with an army of 40 000 men. Nearby is the site of the First Battle of the Marne, which took place in September 1914.

The chateau grounds are open to the public on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays throughout July, August and September, from 9 am to 12 noon and 3 pm to 6 pm.
